A TIME TO QUESTION, OR IS IT ALREADY TOO LATE......................................
Last year the eastern seaboard of the United States was hit by Super Storm Sandy. Red Cross began their campaign to raise funds to assist the victims of the incredible natural disaster. On the 11th day, they boasted on National Television they have received 117 million dollars from corporations, business, families, churches, and individuals. On the 11th day, the Red Cross was generous enough to provide water and hot dogs to the victims residing in homes that were destroyed, NBC is now requesting Congress to investigate charities and non-profits for fraud and misuse of funding at a Federal Level. Grant reform needs to take place now before it is too late to reclaim any moneys misused by non-profits.
People have left negative messages on this blog claiming I am looking for trouble. I can only provide the tools for the reader to determine who is telling the truth. Prior to moving to the Helena - West- Helena, Arkansas I heard rumors that the area was in trouble due to missing money for the accounts in which this town was to pay their bills. It is the importance of all residents to get involved and ask questions about their local government, non-profits, and government agencies providing services to the community. If a non-profit or government agency does not provide the service as they claim, it is your responsibility to report it and have them investigate why they are not providing services.
As I posted earlier the number of non-profits that operate in Phillips County and the grant money they receive is totally unbelievable and the time is now for each resident to investigate, report, and request reform. If grant money does exist as what is paid out to these agencies, why is Phillips County one of the poorest counties in Arkansas.
I reported that the website for the Phillips County Chamber of Commerce has been down for several months. Business pay to promote their own business and Phillips County to the world. If every page you click on this website states "Under Construction" how is that promoting tourist during the summer months for all businesses in the area especially at the 150 Anniversary of Fort Curtis, Freedom Park, and other areas of Helena and it is impossible to locate any current business information on the area. I ask that you do not believe what I write or believe what the grant recipients report. I ask that you take 30 minutes out of your schedule and review the facts with your own eyes and ears. Thank you.
