The past 10 day many have been posted in the social media regarding this blog. I find it funny that the parties posting these vicious rumors do not leave their name. This blog produces the truths of what is going on in Helena - West - Helena. Facts are provide to share with the reader regarding issues directly effecting those living within Phillips County. The amount of money being spent on historical sites to draw tourism into the county when websites are not updated and the Phillips County Chamber of Commerce still does not have an active website but states "Under Construction" making it difficult to draw tourist into the area.
Since moving to the area it appears that everyone waits for the Blue Festival for that once a year infusion of money into out economics and during the remaineder of the year just a few minor concerts and events. Several groups who control the downtown district. I have researched and read articles regarding Helena - West - Helena and since 2009 they have been planning for this major 150 year anniversary taking place this year and I have yet seen this big turnout. During two of the events, I met mostly local families and their out of town guest. The community needs to stand together and be one versus several groups trying to control the community.
My biggest concern is that with KIPP Delta owning over 71 properties downtown, how can new business come into this community. The Family Center has over 13 properties downtown. The Edward and Verna Boyd having thirty- five properties. The list goes on but most of all these properties are eyesores to the community and they are continuing depleting the historical factors out of Helena. There is no room for a new business to come into Helena without having to destroy the charm out of the community.

I ask the community to stop listening to all the rumors and rely on facts. As a community whether we have been born here and moved here from another community we all want the same thing. A community in which we all can be proud of ----Thank you for reading
